But signing a record contract was just the beginning. Dylan had memorized hundreds of folk songs. And on his first record, he recorded only two original songs. But for his second record (The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan), the world saw his talent as a writer of songs. He wrote songs that became classics, such as Blowing in the Wind:

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, and how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
