As time went on, Luther began to lose hope. He felt that he could never be good enough. Fortunately, his teacher, Von Staupitz, realized that Martin needed to focus on something other than himself. Von Staupitz advised Luther and helped him to get a teaching job at the University of Wittenberg. Luther studied there, too, and in October of 1512, he received his Doctor of Theology.
