President Abraham Lincoln had many supporters, but he also had enemies. On April 14, 1865, he was assassinated at the Ford's Theater, just outside Washington, D.C. He was watching a play with his wife when he was shot in the back of the head. He never returned to consciousness after he was shot. And the next day, in a house across the street from the theater, the president died.
