Isaac Newton developed calculus. Calculus is the mathematical study of rates of change over time. Today NASA scientists can use calculus to solve complex problems. Imagine (1) a space ship is flying from (2) Earth to (3) Mars. These three objects are moving, and they are moving at different rates. With calculus, scientists can calculate the right timing for the ship to arrive at Mars.
