The woman made baskets, so they called her The Basket Woman. Her eyes were dark, and in her eyes, you could see the wisdom and sadness of her people.

The Basket Woman told stories about her people. They were native Americans living near the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and they had suffered much at the hands of many invaders.
