Hope filled the air on that famous day in August 1963. Over 200,000 people gathered in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. Abraham Lincoln's giant statue looked down quietly on the great crowd as Dr. Martin Luther King walked up to the microphone. In a warm and powerful voice, Dr. King addressed the crowd. "I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation."
